Lord of the Wind
International Kiteboard Competition

2016

The Lord of the Wind international kiteboard competition will be held from January 13th through Jan 17th 2016. The 2016 event will have a truly international flare with support from the International Kiteboard Association.

LOW has grown into one of the major events for kiteboard worldwide and 2016 will take it to new heights. IKA has sanctioned LOW to present the North American Kiteboard Championship, one of the largest competitions for the international kiteboard community.

In addition to sanctioning from IKA we are also partnering with Federacion Mexicana Vela (FMV). The FMV, the Mexican national sailing association, will help us with publicity and television rights.  Our final sanctioning association is the Association Mexicana Kiteboarding (AMK). We are working on offering an additional title of Mexican National Champion and the AMK will help us reach out to Mexican competitors.

An international team of race committee and judges is being assembled to include recognized professionals in the kiteboard racing circuit. Officials from Mexico, USA, England, and Germany will the competition. The competition will consist of three disciplines for the professionals and three for the non-pros.

The pros will compete for the North American Kiteboard Championship in Hydrofoil Course racing. They will also compete for the title of Mexican National Champion in Freestyle, and their third discipline will be Slalom racing. The non-pros will compete in Slalom, Big Air and Boardercross.

Come join the fun. We expect the 2016 Lord of the Winds to be the biggest competition held in Mexico and one of the largest in the world.
