Dear Rotarian,
I am sending you this note to ask for your help in providing weekly food boxes for families of the East Cape of Baja Sur.
Our world is facing its biggest crisis ever. Families all over the planet are gripped with fear and uncertainty.
Here in Baja Sur, Club Rotario Los Barriles Cabo de Este has teamed with leaders, volunteers and government officials throughout the East Cape to raise funds for the East Cape Emergency Food Bank project.
Patterned after a successful Food Bank program in Los Barriles, we are now moving south to help families in or near La Ribera, Cabo Pulmo and Santa Cruz.
The Los Barriles Food Bank provides weekly food boxes to 850 families that live within the communities of El Cardinal, San Bartolo, El Campamento and El Coro.
We estimate that an additional 500 families in the southern part of the East Cape will need food assistance through the summer. These are multi-generational families, who come from a culture of self-reliance and family-based values. Tragically, almost all local employment has been ended. They need our support now more than ever. Working with the local delegation, volunteers will safely deliver to families in need.
Martin Gobel of the Legacy Works Project has agreed to be our source for tax-deductible donations. Martin is a long time resident of Cabo Pulmo and his organization has worked with leaders from all over the East Cape for the last ten years. Martin was also responsible in helping launch Wallowa Resources in Wallowa County, Oregon.
You may easily donate by going to the link below:

All donations will go through a tightly monitored process and you will receive a letter from Legacy Works that you will be able to use for a tax donation.
During this time of need I realize that not everyone is in a position to support this request. I also know there are opportunities near each you that require support. If you can, please consider donating to our effort in the East Cape.
