Thanks to everyone who attended our opening for the renovations of Centro de Salud on Tuesday.

I also want to thank everyone who participated, donated and otherwise gave support to this project from its starting point last January.  This project was started because the area was uninhabitable due to a recent flood.   By repairing and renovating the area we could have 3 bedrooms for on-call Doctors and nurses to be able to provide 24 hour emergency service to the community - that means everybody, regardless of their ability to pay or not.

The final project costs were just over $ 7000 with final expenses for beds, towels chairs and other things I hadn't anticipated to finish etc.
We decided to forego air conditioning at this time and spend money on drainage and retaining walls in the back behind the clinic, to prevent future flooding into the kitchen area.

Our Rotary Club de Cabo Este provided $ 2000.  The Rotary Club of Nevada City provided $ 500 and Fair Oaks $ 825 which was so appreciated and unexpected.   So Rotary clubs overall contributed almost half of the costs.   Private donors contributed almost $ 4000.   The list of donors has been posted in the BPE.

Further donations are always welcome! -  we need to install air conditioning units for the bedrooms, fans, and toilet paper holders!   A kitchen table would be helpful too as they just have a plastic one right now and 2 more kitchen chairs would be great!

I hope we can continue to support Centro de Salud and the local health services going forward as it is truly represents the lifeblood of our local community.

Thanks everyone
